小熊本季勝場數是近一○六年最佳紀錄，季後賽穩居國聯頭號種子，在芝加哥主場以逸待勞，八日迎戰大都會、巨人隊（後天外卡驟死賽） 的勝隊，最大目標當然是連闖三關，繼一九○八年球季後再嘗世界大冠軍滋味。
